The Anne of Green Gables Museum refers to the Green Gables farmhouse, a historical site located in in Cavendish, Prince Edward Island, Canada. This farm house and its surroundings inspired Lucy Maud Montgomery when she wrote Anne of Green Gables.

It has been preserved and restored to resemble the the beloved farm house described in the Anne Green Gables Book Series. Tartan/Plaid is a patterned fabric characterized by intersecting horizontal and vertical bands of multiple colours called thread counts (width of lines). The colour scheme of the Green Gables has been reflected in this tartan, designed to commemorate this historic property.

The Manufacturer:

  • Patrick King came from a family of Irish weavers and spinners. Ireland in the mid-1800s was rife with extreme poverty and malnutrition, and even the weaving trade was no exception.

In 1873 the family decided to leave Ireland their home in search of something better than they had known all their lives and settled in Glasgow, Scotland.

Today, Patrick King Woollen Company is a recognizable name for quality wool products having offices in Port Hope, Ontario and Edinburgh, Scotland. Our in-house design and graphics team designs exclusive tartans and wool products that compliment any home décor shop, boutique and souvenir store. We can even create your exclusive tartan or private labelling.

Tartan is a classic addition with timeless qualities. We use both Lambswool and Merino wool in producing our products to give you that luxurious feel. Patrick King Woollen Company is a member of the Scottish Tartan Authority, and all of our tartans are registered with The Scottish Tartan Registry.

Patrick King's lambswool products are made from 100% lambswool.

This is considered the highest quality of sheep’s wool on the market. Lambswool is taken from a sheep at its first shearing (usually when the sheep is about seven months old).

Patrick King uses the finest Lambswool in the production in its weaving. Incredibly soft, smooth, resilient, elastic and has superior spinning properties. Because of its silkiness, softness and warmth, Lambswool can be worn comfortably against the skin. It’s also the most hypoallergenic of all wools. Recommend hand wash in cold water and dry flat or dry clean.
